dc.description.abstract Due to the increase in the use of internet and rise in number of network attacks, intrusion detection has become significant research issue. The objective of this work is to propose a hybrid intrusion detection system design to solve the security issue of the today advanced threats. In this research work, both anomaly and misuse detection systems are used so that not only the attacks that is already known but also new form of threats can be detected. Agent technology is used to implement in this system. Each detection engine is autonomous and feedback mechanism is provided so that the system will be modified if new form of threats is detected. This proposed system will give high accuracy in detection rate and reduce the false positive rate. en_US
