Web-based Exam System on Virtualized Platform

Abstract

Nowadays, Virtualization Technologies (VT) is the hot topic in the realm of research and educational environment because it can provide pretty benefits and opportunities. VT can reduce the cost effectively than traditional system as a form of Green environment. Thus, in higher educational environments and collaborative learning institutes, many developers try to utilize the incentive of VT on their platforms.Moreover, a web service can provide as a form of utility computing without depending on the underlying hardware, programming language and operating system (OS). In this paper, Web-based Exam System is implemented on Virtualized Platform and intended to provide good performance, save power consumption, save equipment cost and easier management. This system can fulfillthe requirement of the institutes to conduct the online exam and students can sit examwithout the needof going to any physical destination. In the system, Web Server and Database Serverare created on each Virtual Machine and they provide Exam services by interacting with each other. Performance evaluation of the system is also conducted.
