dc.description.abstract The number of XML documents is growing rapidly on the Web because Extensible Markup Language (XML) becomes a standard format for exchanging and representing data over the Internet. But most of the data are stored in structured databases such as relational and object-oriented databases. Therefore, data model heterogeneity and schema heterogeneity makes the main challenging tasks for data transferring on the Web and to get the standard method. Fortunately, XML schema provides the converting the physical data to XML format is more accurately and efficiently. This paper proposes a framework for generating semantic XML schema from relational and object-oriented databases schema through the concept of Extended Entity Relationship (EER) model and Unified Modeling Language (UML class diagram). To avoid the loss of information, schema matching step is used to compare the XML schemas generated by each model and merge them to provide good result of schemas. en_US
