Abstract:
This paper focuses on the large scale
implementation of information systems in
ASEAN. We use the complexity of the Hospital
Information System (HIS) to gather lessons
learned from a stakeholders’ perspective
through a qualitative study of the software
implementation process in Thai hospitals. We
compare both domestic and international
information systems and how they vary in their
implementation approaches as well as user
friendliness, in regards to features and
functionality. There are important lessons to be
learned for the localization of global software
vendors, both commercial and open-source
