Abstract:
This paper intends to describe the process of Digital
Image Correlation (DIC) and to find the pixel
correlation among the images accurately when they are
moved and deformed. It is a popular and effective tool
for the measuring surface displacements and
displacement gradients in materials in the field of
mechanics and strain measurements under deformation.
Although the underlying principle of DIC is rather
simple, the two main challenges, the sub-pixel
registration accuracy and the computation efficiency,
are always present in the practical implementations.
This paper is presented the development and the limited
experimental verification of sub-pixel registration
algorithm using the Newton-Raphson method.
