Abstract:
Wireless sensor network (WSN) are becoming more attractive due to the low cost deployment, small size, low energy consumption and simple operation. Sensors energy cannot support long haul communication as changing energy supply is not always possible in WSN. Moreover failures are inevitable in wireless sensor networks due to inhospitable environment and unattended deployment. Therefore, fault recovery is an essential component of any network management system. LEACH (Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy) protocol is one of the significant protocols for routing in WSN. LEACH uses a TDMA based MAC protocol, and in order to maintain balanced energy consumption. In this paper, we introduce fault recovery mechanism for sensor networks based on the LEACH protocol. It provides network fault tolerant and achieves reliability and quality of service. Performance analysis and evaluation will be made using network simulator tool (NS2) for proposed mechanism. Further, the proposed fault recovery mechanism can be compared with some existing related work and proven to be more energy efficient.
