Decision Support System for Cosmetics Selection using TOPSIS

Abstract

Nowadays, everybody is facing many problems with making decisions and future planning of global and regional works all over the world. In many situations, one may be able to make decision based on the different decision factors. Decision Support System (DSS) are defined as interactive computer-based systems intended to help decision makers utilize to make decisions. DSS contain many types of models. Multi-Criteria Decision Making(MCDM) is one type of decision support model. One of famous method of MCDM method is TOPSIS. TOPSIS is very effective in multi-attribute decision analysis. MCDM is selection of the best actions from a set of alternatives, each of which is evaluated against multiple, and often conflicting criteria. The MCDM aims at using a set of criteria for a decision problem. In this system, DSS will be implemented by using TOPSIS that is very simple and easy to implement. It is used when the user prefers a simpler weighting approach. According to this technique , the best alternative would be the one that is nearest to the positive ideal solution and farthest from the negative ideal solution. In this system, TOPSIS can help to get the decision for selection a cosmetic. This system presents , DSS will be implemented by using TOPSIS .
