dc.description.abstract XML retrieval, also referred to as Structured Document Retrieval is a discipline of information retrieval that focuses on the retrieval of relevant document fragments for a given information need that contains both content and structural components. In this paper, a system that can provide structured document retrieval for XML document is developed in order to enable the user to find the relevant XML fragment with structure and content queries. Structured XML documents and path based simple queries are as the system inputs. This system aims to retrieve the relevant XML fragments; a relevance values propagation method is used.Relevance propagation method is to evaluate the relevance values of each leaf node according to the content condition of query and propagate relevance values along the document tree until a node having the query tag name is found. The main objective of proposed method is to retrieve the relevant XML fragments for user query. The experiment of the system shows the comparison of querying times and relevant XML fragments are ranked. en_US
