dc.description.abstract In machine translation system of Myanmar to English, grammar rules are used to translate the whole input Myanmar sentences to target English sentences. These rules are based on the pattern of simple sentences in Myanmar Grammar rules. Based on the one of these patterns, many rules can be expanded. To cover all of these patterns, there will be many rules. To reduce these rules, input Myanmar sentences are divided into two parts: noun phrase and verb phrase. This paper presents the method to identify the nominalization patterns for Myanmar language which will help in identification of noun phrase in translation system of one language to another. The nominalization patterns are defined by using the finite state machines. en_US
